| I don’t know what it’s like working for your company, but here at Nexus we always undergo a comprehensive component search when designing a new product. I think most engineers are like this; we like to research all of the possibilities before making a final decision. However, part of the feedback we’ve received from our own contacts is that the portable memory field doesn’t have a great deal of specialist choice in it; besides ourselves of course. We often find that our customers have tried using consumer style memory, such as HD and SD/SDHC cards or USB sticks, before turning to our more durable solutions. Unfortunately, consumer memory doesn’t have the resistance to obsolescence, durability or programming simplicity that our specialist products possess. As a result, in this edition of Nexus News we are addressing the difference between our products and consumer versions. We would like you to fill in our survey on the subject, and are giving you the chance to win an iPod if you do. We are also launching our latest innovation, a mass storage data token called the NFX MSD. We’re really excited about this product, so if you read anything over your coffee today, read this. We look forward to hearing from you - contact us on +44 (0)1730 816502 or e-mail john@nexusgb.co.uk. Best regards, John Barrett, managing director, Nexus GB
| | New memory device set to eliminate high profile data losses We've recently launched a new mass storage memory product, designated the NFX MSD, which is set to put an end to the frequent data losses witnessed over the last few years. The product, which is similar in functionality to a USB stick, is intended for OEMs building secure memory into industrial computers, laptops or PCs. However it can also be retrofitted into existing machines. The NFX MSD rugged, portable memory token and receptacle system is available with a capacity from 256MB to 1GB. In addition, the memory token’s internal file system makes it easily programmable, while SPI and USB communications protocols add versatility for electronics designers. So we’ve decided to do some research to help us find out how big a problem this really is. We’ve launched a survey, containing a few short questions which we would like you to answer if you have time. As a bonus we are offering everyone who completes the survey the chance to win an iPod touch. The iPod will be unbranded (no tacky Nexus logos or anything like that) and we will even have it engraved for you if you let us know what message you want to feature. It stores an impressive 1750 songs or 10 hours of video and is really easy to use. You can play games on it, surf the Internet via Wi-Fi or even use it as a pocket computer. So there’s no excuse, fill out our survey now or read the T&Cs here. Click this link to complete our survey or this link to read our terms and conditions. And thanks for your time; we really appreciate it. | |
| About us: Established in 1986, Nexus GB is Datakey Electronics’ UK and Ireland exclusive distributor for portable, rugged keys and tokens containing non-volatile memory. These reliable and re-programmable items provide data transport, security, and access control solutions even in extreme environments where other methods, such as USB memory, would not survive. Furthermore, distinct from consumer-like memory solutions, they are a well established product that will not become obsolete as technology progresses. As a result, they are commonly used by design engineers working on long term projects, with more than three million units currently in UK service. Why not drop us an e-mail?
